" Resource Mobilization by National NGOs ": A pragmatic guide to financial autonomy

This Efiscens report offers an operational framework for national NGOs in West Africa, which are facing the increasing complexity of funding. It details a structured approach in three key phases:
-
Diagnosis and strategic planning : This guide helps NGOs accurately assess their financial needs and quantify their shortfalls. It encourages them to revise their business model and identify levers for sustainable funding. A template tool helps formalize the Resource Mobilization Plan (RMP).
- Mobilizing "traditional" funding : The report analyzes technical and financial partners (TFPs), highlighting eligibility criteria, procedures, and the specific characteristics of multilateral and bilateral donors. "Practical focus" sections present concrete initiatives (FHRAOC, AFD) and examples of successful strategies. A comprehensive checklist prepares NGOs for donor requirements.
- Building equity : Beyond external financing, the report explores alternatives for financial autonomy: fundraising from individuals, crowdfunding, and the creation of social enterprises. Practical cases (Sobel Ngom, community foundations) illustrate the approaches, and concrete tools (advice, tables) facilitate implementation.

The book emphasizes professionalization, transparency, rigorous management, and innovation . It provides NGOs with a pragmatic framework for structuring their approach, diversifying their revenue streams, and strengthening their financial autonomy. Its focus on operational tools and concrete examples makes it a key guide for the sector. The expertise of Rose Maruru, Gérès V. Ahognon, and Séverine Moisy Aksoy enriches the analysis, alongside testimonials gathered from 80 partners (members of international solidarity organizations, non-profit NGOs, donors, diaspora members, and businesses).
