"Mobilization of Resources by National NGOs: Focus on West Africa": a pragmatic guide to financial autonomy

This Efiscens report provides an operational framework for national NGOs in West Africa faced with the growing complexity of funding. It details a structured approach in three key phases:
-
Diagnosis and strategic planning : The book guides the NGO to precisely assess its financial needs and quantify its deficits. It encourages the revision of the economic model and the identification of levers of action for sustainable financing. A framework tool helps formalize the Resource Mobilization Plan (RMP).
- Mobilizing "traditional" financing : The report analyzes the TFPs (Technical and Financial Partners), highlighting the eligibility criteria, procedures, and specificities of multilateral and bilateral donors. "Practical focuses" present concrete initiatives (FHRAOC, AFD) and examples of winning strategies. A comprehensive checklist prepares the NGO for donor requirements.
- Equity capital : Beyond external financing, the report explores alternatives for financial autonomy: collections from individuals, crowdfunding, and the creation of social enterprises. Practical cases (Sobel Ngom, community foundations) illustrate the approaches, and concrete tools (tips, tables) facilitate implementation.

The book emphasizes professionalization, transparency, rigorous management, and innovation . It provides a pragmatic framework for NGOs to structure their approach, diversify their sources of income, and strengthen their financial autonomy. The approach, centered on operational tools and concrete examples, makes it a reference guide for the sector. The expertise of Rose Maruru, Gérès V. Ahognon, and Séverine Moisy Aksoy enriches the analysis, alongside testimonies collected from 80 partners (members of OSIs, LNGOs, donors, the diaspora, and businesses).
